First the basic recipe I am using. Personally I prefer my porridge not too firm, but a bit more liquid. Of course, make your porridge to your own preference.

  • 1/3 cup of oats

How to

  • add milk/water and oats in a pan and bring to a boil

  • lower the heat

  • simmer for about 4-5 minutes until the porridge is cooked through

Porridge for chocolate lovers

For this variation of chocolate oats porridge I used chocolate milk, but you can also add a tablespoon of chocolate powder to your porridge to make it nice and chocolatey.

You can also add some cocoa nibs, (roasted) nuts or grated coconut. Add some banana, close your eyes and you have your very own ticket to the tropics!

Pink porridge

Pink porridge? Yes, by added red fruits while cooking the oats you will get this lovely pink colour and top it off with some more delicious fresh berries and some cookies juices!

Crunchy porridge

Porridge is nicely soft and warm and therefore perfect to add some crunch. I like to bake some mixed nuts and seeds with a bit of honey and add as part of your lovely topping.

Apple pie porridge

Last but not the least, one of my all time favourite porridges, apple pie inspired. Take an apple, a bit sour one that works best in flavour for cooking. Clean and cut the apple in pieces and bake with a bit off butter/oil, some spice like cinnamon, raisins/cranberries and some honey to caramelise the apple. Then add your oats and milk and follow the standard porridge recipe.
