Run in the morning before your brain figures out what you're doing...

Isn't that enough reason to go outdoors running before dawn?

As much as I'd like to go running whenever I feel like it, life sometimes has other plans. Especially during weekdays, I have to work during daytime. Mind you, I feel lucky enough to still have a job in the current situation and I can tell you that I am anything but bored.

This means however, that you need to work around this daytime schedule. In the past I also went running after work in the afternoon, but somehow it is easier to skip then... But in the early morning... okay it is sometimes hard to get out of bed, but once being up you'd better make something out of it. At that hour I then feel like, okay I got up, so I'd better to out there for my run. What also does help is prepare everything for your run, put your clothes ready, don't forget some lights when it is still dark, you need to stay safe. When all is prepared and ready to go, this can motivate more to really go out there and do it.

Why run early morning?

- You get a big accomplishment already done before most people are even awake.

- You'll enjoy a boost of confidence and good energy through the day.

- It allows you to get more things done the rest of the day.

- During summer time the conditions are more favourable in the morning, like better temperatures.

- Actually, often the weather is better early morning, less hard wind and rain somehow...

- It's nice and quiet (one of the things I love ❤️ best of early morning runs) which brings inner peace.

- Less disruptions make your runs more consistent.

Especially during the winter time it is of course still dark out there, so be prepared!

- Wear a reflective vest, including lights so you can be spotted easily, even though there's not much traffic yet.

- When going more into nature, wear a head lamp, so you see where you're going. This prevents possible injuries.

- Additional lights, or reflective accessories will always help being visible.

Personally, I never expected I'd love running early morning so much, as I always find it hard to get out of bed, but once I'm up, I actually feel alright and I always try to think of how I feel afterwards. Besides, I am also always looking forward to the nice warm and comfy shower after the run and a delicious breakfast that's waiting for me as reward!
